Magical Motown evening out

Members and guests of Market Harborough WI danced to their heart’s content last night at De Montfort Hall, Leicester.  The touring show, Magic of Motown, provided non-stop entertainment and music to dance to from start to finish of the show.  We copied the dancers and singers as they performed (or tried to!).  We were whowed by their glittering costumes, too.

Leicester Hedgehog Rescue

Colleen Powell, founder of Leicester Hedgehog Rescue, enthralled members last night with a very amusing account of how she has grown to love hedgehogs and set up the rescue service.

Hedgehogs have been around for many thousands of years.  Today’s modern environment is still proving a challenge to these small creatures as they struggle to adapt.   I was going to list some facts that Colleen shared with us but have just stumbled across this link to some fascinating hedgehog characteristics that you may wish to check out.

Colleen delighted members by bringing along a hedgehog that is used to humans.

She also brought along some hedgehog goodies and details of ones to sponsor.

Change of plan for May meeting – felting

The Committee recently took the decision not to offer felting at the May monthly meeting.  Constraints on the length of time it would take for members to make an item using felt unfortunately does not fit into the time available.  However, the good news is that we will be offering a wet felting session, led by Leicestershire Craft Centre later this year.  You will be able to book your place as normal with any event on our social programme.  Payment will be necessary by the monthly meeting in the month before.  More details to follow once finalised.

A May Day Bake is now planned for the May meeting – click the link above for more details.

Leicester Hedgehog Rescue – what’s it all about?

hedgehog-w500-h500Join Colleen Powell from Leicester Hedgehog Rescue, on Wednesday 26 March, to find out how they are caring for these creatures in their gardens, some in their own hedgehog hospitals.  There’ll be a chance to see a young hedgehog close up.  You’ll also pick up tips on how to make your own garden a safer place for hedgehogs.
