The next meeting of the Craft Club will be on Thursday, 4th January 2018 between 7pm – 9pm in The Lounge at the Congregational Church.
One of our members, Fiona, will be talking about Mary Linwood (1755-1845) who was local to this area and exhibited her worsted embroidery in Leicester and London.
Members celebrated the last meeting of 2017 with some hilarious vocal warm-up exercises and festive singing led by the beautiful voice of Tracey Holderness of the Great Bowden Recital Trust Choir. We couldn’t resist including our own energetic version of the 12 Days of Christmas too!
Of course, no Christmas party would have been complete without a fantastic spread of food, all supplied by our talented members.
This was followed by a seasonal quiz and a fantastic Christmas raffle organised by Committee member, Fiona.
See our website for details of our exciting new Monthly Programme and Social Events for 2018.
Next meeting will be on Wednesday, 24th January 2018 when Glen Tillyard will be talking to us about his adventures during a 30 year career as a photographer with the Leicester Mercury.
The Committee would like to wish all our members a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and Happy New Year!
Remember the ‘Party Animals’ who visited us in the summer – the lizards, the tarantula, the albino python? Their owners would be grateful for any unwanted towels you have to use for bedding for these exotic creatures.
If you can help out, please bring along to our Christmas meeting tonight, 20th December.
Just a reminder about our new style Christmas Raffle this year. For starters, there will be about TWENTY FOUR PRIZES!!! First prize will be an amazing £50, and a further four cash prizes. In addition, there will be a huge assortment of other goodies for you to win.
This is one of our fundraising activities for the year and, as such, we hope that you will generously support it. Don’t forget to buy your tickets at our monthly meeting on 20th December. Price: £1.00.
MHWI’s Christmas Party this year will be on Wednesday, 20th December at 7.30 pm.
Come and join in the festive fun with music, games and a Dutch supper. Look out your Christmas jumpers, reindeer and elf hats too!
Bring a plate of food to share and don’t forget your favourite tipple and a glass!
See you there!
Unfortunately, due to the very bad weather, we have decided to cancel Book Angels tonight, 11th December, at The Angel Hotel.
We would like to wish all our members a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all again on 15th January 2018.
