‘Love and Romance in Art‘ was the topic for our monthly meeting on 27th February and our speaker, Grainne, led a fascinating session on exploring the details and secrets of famous paintings portraying couples.   Grainne works for a charity called ‘Magic Lantern’ which uses works of art to help children and adults observe more closely the world around them.  We certainly came away feeling that our eyes had been well and truly opened!

• 1908  –  The Kiss by Gustav Klimt (Osterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna)

On Wednesday, 6th March, we also had our Greek Street Food evening in the Lounge at the Congregational Church when Margarita Pap came to talk to us and demonstrate three traditional Greek dishes – a Greek Salad, Tzatziki, and Courgette and Feta fritters.    Margarita gave us many tips about choosing and preparing Greek food and we all had a chance to sample the delicious dishes she made at the end of the session.  So authentic was the taste, that we could imagine ourselves whisked back to holidays relaxing by the shores of a sun-baked Greek island….!
