A coach full of members from Market Harborough WI set off early on Friday morning, 18th May 2018 to visit the Emma Bridgewater Pottery Factory in Stoke-on-Trent.
On arrival, we were taken on a very interesting tour of this friendly and homely Victorian factory. We were introduced to various traditional crafts people, such as the jiggers, the jolliers, the fettlers, the casters and the decorators as they transformed lumps of clay into the lovely designs that we have come to recognise as the hallmark of Emma Bridgewater.

Some members eagerly got involved too! READY, STEADY ………
SPLAT……!!!!!!

Then we were treated to a delicious ‘afternoon tea’ style lunch!

We also got a chance to have a go in the Decorating Studio, selecting plain white pottery pieces and adorning them with our own choice of flowers, animals, birds and spots!

Many thanks to Diane Claridge for organising such a fabulous trip!
