This week members of the Market Harborough WI enjoyed an excellent talk by Quilling Expert Jane Jenkins from the Quilling Guild this week. For the uninitiated: Quilling is a papercraft that has its origins possibly in antiquity, but certainly was practiced as far back as the 16th Century. Quilling was used to decorate precious items such as reliquaries, but also more mundane things such as tea caddies or jewellery boxes.
Jane talked about some of the historical aspects of Quilling and showed us some beautiful antique pieces before giving us an online tutorial on how to make some of the basic shapes that can be used for a greeting card or similar. Great fun, very therapeutic and amazing how even beginners can create something quite special.
If you would like to learn more about Quilling, why not have a look at The Quilling Guild Website for more information on all things Quilling? You’d be amazed!
