A MASSIVE thank you to Laura and Jess from Laura Lane Studios who came to our January meeting. Laura provided a make up demonstration and shared lots of valuable make up advice. Jess then did a hair demonstration showing the different ways ghd’s can be used to curl hair and again gave us lots of really useful tips. 

The luxury Laura Lane studios are based on the High Street and have 3 floors dedicated to natural beauty and helping you look and feel amazing. Happy New Year to you all. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday. As part of our Wellness evening we are pleased to welcome Laura Lane studios who will be talking to us and providing a demonstration on how to apply makeup to the more mature complexion and also some hairdressing tips. We also welcome our member Diane Claridge who will be talking to us about Reflexology and the many benefits this provides.

We will also be voting on the annual resolutions and ask that if you have any unwanted Christmas presents that you bring them in for our raffle.

We all enjoyed our December Christmas Meeting. We welcomed Bronwyn Ramsey and Mel Reed from Cambridge WI who expertly guided us through the intricacies of learning various dance steps. We may not be Strictly level but we certainly enjoyed ourselves. We quenched our thirst afterwards with wine from Chris at Viva Vino and enjoyed trying out some of the different wines he had bought for us to taste. It wouldn’t be a true WI Christmas party without a dutch supper and a christmas raffle!!

The Craft Club enjoyed an evening of wreath making last week and we all made an amazing festive wreaths to adorn our doors. We clearly have lots of budding florists! Many thanks to Denise Line and Fiona Dudbridge for organising the evening and bringing the mince pies x

Put on your Christmas glitz and sparkle – we have a fun filled festive evening planned for our December Christmas get together!

We will be having our own “Strictly Come Dancing Evening” where we will be learning some ballroom dancing routines courtesy of Bronwyn and Mel from Cambridge WI. So get those dancing shoes on!

We will also be having a visit from Chris from Viva Vino. You will remember Chris from last December. Chris will be bringing a sample of wines for us to taste and give us the opportunity to buy some wine for a Christmas tipple! There will be a complimentary glass of wine for you all.

There will be a dutch supper so please bring a dish that can be shared with everyone – savoury or sweet.

We have a raffle extravaganza with lots of amazing ‘hamper style’ raffle prizes so please bring those pound coins along to buy some tickets. You gotta be in it to win it!!

And finally there will be a secret santa present swap so please bring along a wrapped present to the value of £5 and swap it for something to open on the 25th.

Our November meeting was a very informative and enjoyable evening with several of our members sharing their hobbies and interests with us all. Mags shared her jewellery making and her pearl knotting necklaces and members had the chance to knot a necklace. Liz showed us her very intricate dolls house accessories and clothing. Ruth explained the concept of travelling books and shared some examples. Lavinia explained her Geo caching hobby and Bridget talked us through the intricacies of being a bee keeper.

Many thanks to everyone for sharing your hobbies. We all had a great evening and learnt lots of new things.

Great fun was had at our November Craft club with beautiful christmas tree decorations made (yes more mention of the ‘C’ word!). These will look lovely adorning our christmas trees. Many thanks to Fiona and Denise for your expert help.

How organised are we??!! Christmas decoration making in October (yes we can now mention the ‘C’ word!!!) A great evening was had by all crafting and chatting. Many thanks to Clare and team for the preparation and instructions on the evening.

There are still some spaces left for our meal at Avatar on 1st Nov at 7pm. The meal is a 3 course banquet costing £18.85. This comprises a choice of starters, main course, rice or naan bread and tea or coffee. There is a deposit of £10 required to secure your place.

Our next monthly get together is next Wednesday 25th Oct. There is a change to the advertised programme with Christmas crafts moving to the October meeting and our ‘Share a hobby’ evening moving to Wednesday 22nd November. We will be ultra early and very organised with our Christmas crafting!!
