CHANGE OF PLAN FOR OCTOBER MEETING

badge

Unfortunately our speaker Paul Simpson from Tax Assist is unable to attend our meeting tomorrow due to Covid. We will reschedule this talk instead for next year.

As a result we will now be having a craft evening and will be making badges.  This will enable us to dispense with the sticky label badges we are currently using.  The evening will also enable us to sit, chat and socialise with other members as we make our badges.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night – Wednesday 26th October at 7.30pm.

A beautiful autumnal walk

The walking club enjoyed a lovely 5 mile walk around Harrington culminating in a stop at the Tollemarche Arms for a well earned drink.

There is no walk planned in November. Instead the club will be meeting for lunch at 12pm on 20th November at The Three Swans.  If you would like to find out more about the walking club please feel free to join us.

Dare we mention Christmas yet ??

Christmas decorations were made at the craft club at the October get together. The group made fantastic wooden hanging Christmas trees, constructed from twigs.

The next craft club meeting is Thursday 3rd November and air dry clay Christmas decs will be made.  If you would like to come along please advise Sarah Trappitt at sarahtrappitt@btinternet.com

Beetle!!!

This week was our Annual General Meeting – and of course we also had some fun!

The AGM is always a good time to look back on what was and look forward to the plans for the future. A number of our committee members are stepping down and are handing over to a new group that will lead us into the coming year. Thank you to the outgoing committee members for their hard work seeing us through the covid pandemic and back to in-person meetings. And of course – welcome to the new committee and best of luck in your endeavours!

And this would not be the Market Harborough WI if we did not pack some fun into the evening once the business had been concluded: A Beetle Drive game was a great way to meet, chat, network and make new friends – apart from raising the noise levels with dice rattling and Beetles being cheered to the rafters!

Precision Painting at Paint Pottle

This week 11 members of the Market Harborough WI spent an enjoyable evening at The Paint Pottle in Market Harborough decorating cake plates.

Although this required precision handling of brushes and paints it turned out to be a very relaxing and rewarding activity. The plates are now being fired and will be collected in a few days.

And if you would like to join the Market Harborough WI or are a member already and would like to participate in any of our activities have a look around this website to see what is planned for this year or email us at marketharboroughwi@gmail.com

Fashion fades – only style remains the same (Coco Chanel)

And we certainly learned a lot about the difference at our August monthly meeting when Annette Woods from Colourful Touches (www.colourfultouches.co.uk) gave us an introduction to choosing colours according to colour type.

Meeting 4

Using a range of green garnments she used our volunteers to demonstrate how a different shade can make all the difference. Annette used items from her own collection to show how to ‘shop in your wardrobe’ by combining existing items in new ways, using a scarf and other acessories to tone a shade up or down and so be able to use a single classic item through the seasons.

Meeting 1

And armed with that knowledge our members then tackled the Swish Rack – full of clothes and acessories donated for the evening – to pick items to take away to try out. Great fun and a fabulous way to recycle and upcycle.
