Summer Break? What Summer Break?

The weather has finally found the right season and glorious summer sunshine is with us. Although the Market Harborough WI is officially on the annual Summer Break, there is a lot going on this month:

The Craft Club used their July session to learn about Mirror Work – requiring some concentration to deal with the fiddly bits, but fun nonetheless.

The Walking Club meanwhile took advantage of the fabulous weather and went for a walk along the canal at Foxton Locks (on the shady side of the path!) and a well-deserved refreshment break at the end

At the allotment in Stevens Street it is all systems go on the watering front as the first raspberries are ripening and the seedlings start to turn into real plants. The Gardening Girls are there every Monday afternoon – why not pop round to have a look?

And the next Book Club Meeting is on the 20th July at 2.30pm at the Cafe at the Langton Garden Centre. The Book of the month is:

‘The Phone box at the edge of the world’ by Laura Imai Messina

Book Club July 2022

If all that activity was not enough to swamp your diary, there is the July Social Event: Meet us at the Langton Arms in Church Langton on the 27th July at 7pm for Dinner in the Garden Room at 7.30pm.

If you have not done so already just send an email to marketharboroughwi@gmail.com to join in!

Warriors, Dogs and Happy Babies

Last night members of the Market Harborough WI enjoyed a brilliant session with Yoga teacher Sam Winters. Sam practices Vinyasa Yoga, which is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Hence it is commonly known as ‘Flow Yoga’.

We practised some yoga moves – the warrior, downward dog, child pose and happy baby pose. At the end of the session Sam also talked about various other types of yoga and where they originate from. All in all a ‘totally chilled evening’ as one of the members termed it.

If you are interested in joining one of Sam Winter’s classes you can find her on Facebook:
