Things to remember for this evening
An old book and buttons for the craft activity
- A plant, plant cuttings, seeds or garden paraphernalia for our garden raffle this evening (you will be given a raffle ticket for your donation and collect your prize at the end of the evening)
Last few tickets for Canary Girls
Going, going, gone! Just a few tickets left for “Canary Girls”, a play written by Mikron Theatre. Mikron Theatre wrote, produced and performed the specially written “Raising Agents” show last year in honour of our centenary celebrations. Friends and family very welcome.

CANARY GIRLS:
Summer 1914.
Sisters Rose and Lizzie work as maids, a world of deference, bed-making and poor pay. When war breaks, adventure-seeking Rose becomes a shell worker, persuading her procedure loving sister Lizzie, to follow her to a world offering more money, exciting work and union activity. It seems like a new start.
But as the sisters discover the dangers of shell work, they realise their dreams are pulling in opposite directions.
As old and new worlds collide on the factory floor, each sister must ultimately decide, which takes more courage – following your dreams, or giving them up for the ones you love?
Funny, heartfelt and tender. Mikron presents a tale of two sisters well and truly at war.
Craft night – what to bring with you
Remember to sort out an old book and a few buttons for our meeting on Wednesday 25 May. After discussing the WI Resolutions for 2016, Leicestershire Craft Centre will be showing us to make these cute little flowers. (You can share an old book with a friend as you will not need all the pages.)
Seeds, plants, cuttings, garden paraphernalia needed
Spring is firmly with us and our monthly raffle for May will be for seeds, plants, cuttings and garden paraphernalia. We would like members to donate items. In return you will be given a raffle ticket and will claim your prize at the end of the evening. So, check out what you have at home and get potting up items to bring along on 25 May. Maybe time to have a clear out in the garden shed and bring in unwanted items?
