Merry Christmas!

The last meeting of 2018 came to a fun and festive end last night.    First, the Cransley Hospice Choir entertained us with a mixture of well known, traditional songs, interspersed with a beautiful, melodious Christmas ‘lullaby’ written by a local composer.

Fiona produced an excellent Christmas Gift Bag raffle for us with lots of prizes, including the cash jackpot of £50!

Everyone enjoyed the ‘Find your Other Half’ game, which also gave us a chance to ask each other questions and get to know each other a little better!.

The hall was beautifully decorated with our own bunting,  plus colourful knitted baubles produced by our Craft Club, and an exquisite nativity set knitted by Carolyn.

The food, of course, was plentiful and delicious.

Don’t forget MHWI meets a week earlier this month for our Christmas Party and we have a lovely fun, festive evening lined up for you!

First of all, you will be able to sit back, relax and listen to the beautiful sounds of the Cransley Hospice Choir as they entertain us with a selection of seasonal songs.

There will be a very special Xmas raffle with 24 gift bags to be won – some will contain a prize of  £10, £20 and £50!!!!   This will be a fundraiser for our own WI so please be generous!   Tickets £1.00 each.

Xmas food and drink

Of course, there will be some amusing Christmas games to be played as well!  Then everyone will be able to tuck in to our usual fabulous, festive buffet, so don’t forget to bring the following items with you:

  • Savoury or sweet snack
  • Tipple of your own choice
  • Plate, cutlery and glass, as there will only be limited tea/coffee available.   (This will avoid using plastic plates and give our hardworking refreshment people less work to do at Xmas!)

Crafting Extravaganza Last Night!

Last night at Market Harborough WI, our President, Anne, presented us with a tempting array of Christmas craft ideas for us to try out over the festive season.

Anne talked us through how to make many of these items – from simple table decorations, to wreaths, paper ornaments and even elves on shelves and skis!    Most of the materials she had sourced very cheaply from discount and charity shops, such as Christmas baubles, lights and glass vases.   Other materials she had used included pine cones, wool and a surprising number of empty wine bottles!   This enabled her to make items at a fraction of the cost of shop bought items.

Here’s ones she made earlier!

Afterwards, we had lots of fun trying to recreate some of these craft items for ourselves, producing our own highly original range of wreaths, paper ornaments and some very stylised elves!

Look out for details of our Christmas Party in December.    Remember, because of the Christmas Bank Holiday, it is a week earlier than normal – on Wednesday, 19th December.
