Just a reminder about our new style Christmas Raffle this year. For starters, there will be about TWENTY FOUR PRIZES!!! First prize will be an amazing £50, and a further four cash prizes. In addition, there will be a huge assortment of other goodies for you to win.
This is one of our fundraising activities for the year and, as such, we hope that you will generously support it. Don’t forget to buy your tickets at the next monthly meeting on 20th December. Price: £1.00 each.
Bring your unwanted books (for any age group or interest) along for our book sale. Better still, pick up a bargain for yourself for an evening read now that the days are drawing in: £1 each or 4 for £3.
A chance to be creative (and crafty, too). For Wednesday’s raffle, find an empty jar, decorate it and fill it with whatever takes your fancy: tiny bulbs, sweets, bath time treats, the choice is yours.
Unwanted gifts? Then put them to good use. We can use them for monthly raffle prizes. This is an excellent fund raiser for your WI.
Bring them along to the next Market Harborough WI meeting and give them to any Committee Member.
Support Wear a Hat Day at our meeting on 23 March 2016
Congratulations to Jo and team: £58 was raised this today from donations by Market Harborough WI members who wore a diverse range of headwear this evening to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
At the January monthly meeting earlier this week, Clare Farquahar, President, presented Diane from VASL (Voluntary Action South Leicestershire) with a cheque for £200 for their Young Carers Group. Youngsters can be the sole carer in their family, looking after an adult. This means that the young person cannot get out and take part in the fun activities enjoyed by their peers.
The Young Carers Group was formed approximately 5 years’ ago to provide opportunities not only for the youngsters to meet up but to enjoy some special outings just for them. In the past, these have included ice skating, bowling and a day trip to Skegness. The £200 raised by Market Harborough WI members from the Christmas 2014 raffle (all prizes generously donated by local businesses) will be used to fund a trip to Laserquest or to see Woman in Black. An exciting choice for the young carers to make!
If you have a favourite local charity you would like MHWI to support in the future, then do let a Committee Member know or drop us an email Contact Us.
What to do with those unwanted birthday and Christmas gifts? Bring them along to the next WI monthly meeting and we will be delighted to recycle them, using them for raffle prizes.
