Our April speaker is Gary Johannas, a trained and experienced hypnotherapist who will give a fascinating talk on hypnotherapy including a well deserved relaxation session for us all.

Our first carnival craft night was “jamtastic”! Not the traditional WI jam making technique, but the wallpaper paste gave just the right consistency!!
Annabel and Gemma had great fun experimenting to get just the right colours. We have damson, raspberry and apricot (which has some lumps in it which looks very authentic!).
Victoria, Janice and Linda snipped and fixed the lids. Thanks to Linda for supplying such lovely fabric.
Patsy and I have been looking through our list of needs and ladies that would like to join in the carnival fun. Our next craft night will be cake making. We need bath and car sponges, blocks of polystyrene, sheets of foam, anything we can shape and turn into a variety of gateaux!! All donations gratefully received. If you would like to join in this evening a date will be announced at the next meeting.

To mark the WI centenary, the NFWI is conducting a special one-off survey of WI members.
About this survey
The aim of the survey is to understand the views of WI members on some of the big issues in Britain today, and also to understand what role members think the WI has to play in today’s society.
The results of this survey will be used to inform the NFWI’s future policy and campaigns. The findings will also contribute to a new centenary publication celebrating the WI’s historic achievements over the past 100 years and exploring the views and concerns of today’s members.
How to take part
We would really like to make sure that we hear the views of as many WI members as possible. We would therefore be delighted if you would be able to complete the survey using the link provided.
We would be most grateful if you would please circulate the survey to WIs in your federation, and ask them to share the web link above with their members. Last date for completing: 8 June 2015
A reminder to pot up spare seedlings, plants or cuttings for our April garden raffle (the 22nd). The theme is plants that attract bees. Sort out any unwanted garden paraphernalia, too.
We’re making a big effort this year as part of the WI Centenary to contact WIs (or similar organisations) across the world. Maybe you could make contact via a friend or family member overseas and let the Committee know how you get on. We’ve already made contact with the Country Women’s Association in Melbourne (see email below) and another member has a Canadian contact.
Secondly, we’re making contact with WIs in the UK within a 100 km radius. Maybe we can be in social media contact, swop Centenary gifts or even make a visit. Watch this space for updates.
Clare Farquhar and Fiona Thompson will be representing Market Harborough WI at the second national WI Tea and Tents event this summer which involves also knitting a Yellow Brick Road!. If you would like to knit a brick, then this is the link to the pattern.
There’s still plenty of opportunity to get involved. We need volunteers to help with preparations, such as making decorations (there will be some fun craft evenings ahead), setting up the lorry the evening before (strong, handy partners welcome, too) and followers to accompany the float on the day (Saturday 13 June 2015). Spring is firmly with us and our monthly raffle for April will be for seeds, plants, cuttings and garden paraphernalia. We would like members to donate items. So, check out what you have at home and get potting up items to bring along on 22 April. Maybe time to have a clear out in the garden shed and bring in unwanted items?
