Waterfront  join other MHWI members for a fabulous Cocktail night on Wednesday 8th November –  7.30 pm,   at the Waterfront, Unon Wharf, Market Harborough.   £17.50 to include platters of food.. Book your place at tonight’s monthly meeting (cash or cheque, please).

Things to remember – September monthly meeting

Tonight is our annual meeting.  Your chance to celebrate another successful year with other members and the Committee.   Maybe you have some great ideas on what you’d like to see happening next year?  If so, It’s your chance, too, to step up, and make those things happen.

We’ll be celebrating with a Dutch Supper (everyone brings a plate of food, sweet or savoury, to share).  Bring a couple of glasses, too, and your favourite tipple.

Other things to remember:

  • Bring along any unwanted books you wish to donate to the Book Sale.  Pick up some more autumn evening reading for just £1 a title. or 4 for £3.
  • Raffle – bring along a decorated jar of small items for this month’s raffle  Can’t wait to see what surprising things members can put in a jar.  Now there’s a challenge!
  • Pick up a scarf bargain for the autumn – we’ll have some for sale.
  • Guess the number of buttons in a jar – £1 entry and a prize for the best guess.

Items for jewellery valuation

Do you have a piece of jewellery you would like valuing?  If so, then a speaker from Thornton’s Jewellery will be giving a talk at our October meeting.  A number of items, selected randomly from those put forward by MHWI members, will be valued.

September’s Meeting

It’s that time of year again – our WI AGM is on Wednesday 27th Sept. There is lots going on and we will being having a Dutch Supper so please bring along a plate of nibbles to share if you are able.   We will also be compiling a little survey amongst members for new ideas – for speakers, socials, monthly meetings etc so please take a moment to do this; we are all part of the WI and your ideas and suggestions really do count.

 

Instead of the normal raffle, we are going to do a Surprise Jar raffle, suggested by Fiona, our ‘raffle lady’! If members could each fill a jar with anything you wish and bring it along; it could be a jar of recipes, smellies, sweeties, bulbs, crafts. Use your imagination!

Lastly, if you have any books you wish to donate, please bring them along! They can be any book in good condition and we will have a book sale. They will be £1 each or 4 for £3.00. There will also be some scarves for sale.
