Do you have a favourite book you would like to donate to the February monthly meeting raffle? It’s simple: donate a book (it must be in excellent condition) and you will receive a numbered raffle ticket. At the end of the evening you will pick up a new title with a corresponding number.

What will be your handmade raffle prize?
Our September monthly meeting raffle will be tombola style. Each member is asked to bring something along that is ‘homemade’. You can make it or someone else can. It can be anything, eg cake, jam, craft. Just let your imagination run! All donations will be numbered and everyone will go home with a homemade prize. It all follows our President’s theme of caring and sharing.

Christmas raffle success and winners
We are delighted to announce that our Christmas Raffle raised £154.56. Well done to all members and their friends and families that supported us.
All prizes were from local organisations, some we sourced ourselves and several others which were very kindly donated by businesses. Congratulations to the winners of the first 3 prizes: alcohol gift hamper – go to Mr Walker (husband of Lynda), meat hamper – Emma Morris and Emerson & West hamper – Kim Stanford.

January monthly meeting – a couple of things!
Do join us for a fun and friendly evening of Egyptian Dancing on Wednesday 23 January 2013. Rose Metaxa will demonstrate and there’ll be a chance to have a go. So checkout your wardrobe for that floaty scarf with coins you’ve always wanted to wear and didn’t dare, and bring it along. You could be the star of the evening!
Membership fees – these are now overdue. Do remember to bring along your cheque book or some cash. It’s £33 but where else can you have 11 nights’ out for £3 each? Not only that, you can meet new friends and try out new things.
There’s an exciting social programme too, so remember to check out the noticeboards when you come along and put your name down. Again, have some spare cash with you to put down a deposit when booking.
If you have any unwanted gifts that you can donate to our monthly raffle, then pop them in a bag and bring them along and give to any commitee member.
Finished reading your Christmas books? Then bring them along and donate them to the book box so someone else can enjoy them, too. You can browse through the box and for a small donation to MHWI fund raising you can even take away a book of your choice to while away these dark winter evenings.

Christmas raffle
Do pick up your book of raffle tickets at the November meeting. We have a hundred books, so there’s one for every member to take and sell to friends and family. This is our major fund raising event for 2012, and will set us up for funding our future programme of events, such as paying for the venue and visiting speakers. (Out of the £33 annual subscription, a proportion goes to the Leicestershire and National Federations of the WI, leaving us with £14.80 per member.)
Don’t forget, too, to bring in donations for the hampers – local food and drinks would be very welcome.
