Our September AGM isn’t too far away now. Carmen, Clare F and Fiona have all expressed their interest in remaining in post on the Committee. We can have 12 people max. Walk and pub lunch
Burton Lazars WI are organising a Walk on Wednesday 26th August.

Set your DVD for the 20th!
Cake Bakers and Troublemakes should set their DVD for 9 pm, Monday 20 July on BBC2.
At the Annual Meeting in June, one of the speakers, Lucy Worsley, mentioned she was making a documentary to mark 100 years of WI called Cake Bakers and Trouble Makers. This is going to be aired on Monday.

Help pilot adult colouring books
Julie Angel has contacted National WI and offers members the chance to trial adult colouring books: ‘Having spoken to Joanna Rayner the Press and PR Officer for NFWI and explained our project we were advised we could approach regional groups with this exciting proposal.
‘We would love you to take part in testing our colouring books for adults. You may be aware that there is a buzz around adult colouring books. Last year they outsold cookery books in France and it looks likely that the UK is picking up this new trend. We think that we can do better than what is currently on sale at the moment, and have produced two books that are more challenging. To get this right we need focus groups to tell us if they like what we have done, if it too challenging, not interesting enough etc. We would not be asking you for anything apart from data which will collect in a convenient way for your members.
‘You are our ideal target audience and we would really love you to join us. We are being featured in a few articles in the press and we would love to explore where this new trend could go. Our aim is to have focus groups test a selection of pages throughout July and then we can feed back the data for a final edit on both books. We are joining the ‘Big Draw’ nationwide event in October and would be overjoyed if your members who loved the experience wanted to join in our adult version called ‘The Big Colour In’.
Outlines for colouring
‘I have attached a sample of the images that we would be sending to your group and if you wish to join us then I would send you copies in the post or send an email with the rest of the trial pages in so you could get started straight away. We will also be sending some groups the same pencils, the same five we used for all the drawings as we are undecided whether to include them in our adult range as we have in our Colouring Sketchbooks.’

Fans of Jane Austen and the Georgian era will welcome the opportunity to watch a costume presentation by the unique History Wardrobe. It’s on the evening of Thursday 24 September 2015 Barkby (about 30 minutes drive from MH). Bookings needed by Thursday 20 August latest. Designer needed for cover for our Centenary booklet
Budding designers are asked to submit their ideas for an A5 cover for our very own Hints and Tips booklet that Market Harborough WI will be producing later this year. Each member will receive their own copy. It will contain loads of hints and tips that make our busy lives easier, as well as favourite recipes. Ideas, please, by the July monthly meeting.

Would you like to have a go at Indoor Kurling? There is a taster session on Thursday afternoon, 1 October in Leicester at The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre. What will be your handmade raffle prize?
Our September monthly meeting raffle will be tombola style. Each member is asked to bring something along that is ‘homemade’. You can make it or someone else can. It can be anything, eg cake, jam, craft. Just let your imagination run! All donations will be numbered and everyone will go home with a homemade prize. It all follows our President’s theme of caring and sharing.
