images-w500-h500We are delighted to announce that our Christmas Raffle raised £154.56.  Well done to all members and their friends and families that supported us.

All prizes were from local organisations, some we sourced ourselves and several others which were very kindly donated by businesses.  Congratulations to the winners of the first 3 prizes: alcohol gift hamper – go to Mr Walker (husband of Lynda), meat hamper – Emma Morris and Emerson & West hamper – Kim Stanford.

The Christmas snow(wo)men have arrived!

All snowmen-w500-h500The highlight of this week’s Christmas meeting just had to be the toilet roll snowman competition.  A member from each team stepped up and the rest of the team used toilet paper, hats, scraves, carrots, straws and pens to decorate their model.

Two Spirits Distillery-w500-h500

Two Spirits, a new, local distillery supplied samples of gin, vodka and absinthe, with the chance to buy some last minute Christmas presents at a specially discounted price.

Teams had great fun all evening playing ‘Chrisolympics’.  Games included making a nativity scene from play dough (click for recipe), blindfolded sampling to decide which was the best or cheapest mincepie, guessing the names of stars dressed in Santa outfits, millionaire drop and Christmas Pictionary.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year to all our members.

Annual membership due

A reminder that your annual membership is due by the end of December.  It’s £34.70 – excellent value for 11 monthly meetings each year and the chance to meet new friends.

At the December meeting on the 18th, bring along your cheque or cash and speak to Committee members at the door as you arrive.  You can also ask for the bank details so you can pay by bank transfer.

Unfortunately, if you haven’t paid by the end of January latest, your name will be taken off the membership list.

Fun evening planned for December’s meeting

Do make sure Wednesday 18th December is in your diary.  It’s 7.30 pm at the Congregational Church, Bowden Lane.  There’s lots happening and it should be a great start to Christmas festivities.

Local distillery, Two Birds Countryside Spirit (click to find out more and why they are so special), will be visiting with a chance to taste their locally produced spirits: London Dry Gin, Vodka and Absinthe.  You will also be able to buy their products at a discounted price for the evening, so a great chance to complete your Christmas shopping, while enjoying an evening with friends!

‘Chrisolympics’ are planned.  So, again, lots of fun for everyone as we can all take part in some crazy seasonal games.

Do bring a plate of nibbles to share – it’s a Dutch supper.  If you want to share a glass of wine with other members, then do bring a bottle and some glasses.

Looking forward to another great evening to celebrate the end of Market Harborough WI’s second, very successful year.  See you there!
