Whow! So many things to do around the county

Federation have just issued details of a whole load of events around the city and county.  You will be spoilt for choice on what to do.  Why not get together with other MHWI members, car share and make an outing?

To tempt you, there is a garden tour at Brooksby College, followed by refreshments (including an evening option),    There are two competitions: a quiz with a local venue in Little Bowden (let’s put MHWI on the map by getting a team together) and a photograph competition (you have all summer to click away).

Crafts include crochet and handstitched cards (panels for cards and memory books).  You can also learn Indoor Bowls, join others at the monthly Lunch Club or attend a Faith Visit in Leicester.  Looking ahead, there’s a holiday for members and non-members at Warners, Cricket St Thomas next January.

WI events across the county for you to try

Check out the latest events planned across the county: beginners’ crochet, lunch club, faith visit are just a few.  How about getting together with several other MHWI members and representing us at a  Federation quiz in early July? Foxton WI host Federation quiz

There are also several floral art workshops across the country organised by national WI.

Enigma quiz night

Many thanks to Evanda Greenwood, Social Secretary, for arranging the quiz this evening.  It was held at Engima and they made us very welcome.  Seventeen members and visitors took part in answering 40 questions that spanned general knowledge, history and geography.

Try one of our questions that created much debate on our table?  Which parts of the body keep growing?  (see below for answer)

Team Bananas won with 37 points, followed by WI knows 32 points, Sooty & Co 30 points, New Ones 27 points and Sizzling Sisters 19 points.

Answer (in bold)

The body parts that keep growing as you age are the hair, nails, ears and nose. The nose and the ears never stop growing as they are made of cartilage which continues to grow after our bodies have stopped.
