Members celebrated the last meeting of 2017 with some hilarious vocal warm-up exercises and festive singing led by the beautiful voice of Tracey Holderness of the Great Bowden Recital Trust Choir.  We couldn’t resist including our own energetic version of the 12 Days of Christmas too!

Of course, no Christmas party would have been complete without a fantastic spread of food, all supplied by our talented members.

This was followed by a seasonal quiz and a fantastic Christmas raffle organised by Committee member, Fiona.

Next meeting will be on Wednesday, 24th January 2018 when Glen Tillyard will be talking to us about his adventures during a 30 year career as a photographer with the Leicester Mercury.

Remember the ‘Party Animals’ who visited us in the summer –  the lizards, the tarantula, the albino python?   Their owners would be grateful for any unwanted towels you have to use for bedding for these exotic creatures.

Just a reminder about our new style Christmas Raffle this year.   For starters, there will be about TWENTY FOUR PRIZES!!!   First prize will be an amazing £50, and a further four cash prizes.  In addition, there will be a huge assortment of other goodies for you to win.

This is one of our fundraising activities for the year and, as such, we hope that you will generously support it.  Don’t forget to buy your tickets at our monthly meeting on 20th December.  Price:  £1.00.

Just a reminder that the Bake Club meets this Thursday, 7th December 2017 at 7 pm at Fortnums Home Improvement Centre, Unit H, Riverside End, Riverside, Market Harborough.

The theme will be ‘Christmas Nibbles’.

The evening will culminate in a buffet, with extra food kindly provided by Fortnums, plus a raffle too!

Please note there has been a change of date for the next meeting of Book Angels, the MHWI book club.   We will now be meeting on Monday, 11th December 2017 at 8pm in the downstairs bar of The Angel Hotel, High Street, Market Harborough.

Members will be discussing ‘Good Omens’ written by Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman.

In 2018, Book Angels will be changing their meeting time to the third Monday of each month, as follows:

Discussing a book of own choice set in India, over a curry at the Cinnamon Lounge, Market Harborough

Poetry and Prosecco night, with a poem of your own choice

Discussion of ‘Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine’ by Gail Honeyman (a copy of this book will be included as a prize in the MHWI Christmas Raffle).

New members always welcome.   Come regularly or just occasionally – whatever suits you.   It’s a great opportunity to have a relaxing, social evening and get to know other WI members a little better.

This is just a reminder that there will be NO Craft Club in December due to the Christmas festivities.

Craft Club will resume again on Thursday, 4th January 2018 at 7 pm in The Lounge at the Congregational Church, Market Harborough.
