Change of plan for May meeting – felting
The Committee recently took the decision not to offer felting at the May monthly meeting. Constraints on the length of time it would take for members to make an item using felt unfortunately does not fit into the time available. However, the good news is that we will be offering a wet felting session, led by Leicestershire Craft Centre later this year. You will be able to book your place as normal with any event on our social programme. Payment will be necessary by the monthly meeting in the month before. More details to follow once finalised.
A May Day Bake is now planned for the May meeting – click the link above for more details.

See you on Wednesday.
Help with WI committee
Are you interested in joining the Market Harborough WI committee in September? It is the invaluable contributions and time volunteered by current and former committee members that have helped make this new WI so successful.
If you would like to ‘try us out’ by attending a committee meeting to see what it is all about, maybe with a view to stepping up to the new committee in September, then do speak to any one of the current committee members at the next and forthcoming coming monthly meetings. You can spot us – we wear the sashes! Better still, monthly committee meetings are in a local pub with parking right outside.
A couple of the original committee members will be standing down this summer so we urgently need your help now. You can also Contact us or call 0754 789 0756.
Can you sew? Help urgently needed for a charity
Christine Lucas has over 1000 knitted squares that she needs sewn into blankets for the poor in Belarus. Every year someone she knows takes a truck over with desks for schools and all sorts of other things that really help them out. The truck is going in March and she is overwhelmed with so many squares to sew. So it anyone is prepared to help her they can contact her on phone no: 0116 279874. From what she was telling a committee member, it sounds like a good cause
Help us to remove the old Facebook group
Are you still a member of the original MHWI Facebook group? If so, we would like you to remove yourself, and follow us on the new group. Then we can close the old group. About 30 people still need to do this.
1. Go to your newsfeed page in Facebook
2. You will see the groups you belong to listed on the left hand side of the page
3. Move your cursor to the right hand side of the “Market Harborough WI” listing and go to the righthand side of the screen, to the cogged wheel icon.
4. Click on the cogand several options should appear. The bottom one will be “Leave Group”.
5. Select that option and follow the prompts to confirm.
6. If that doesn’t work, consult a teenager.
Diary date – coffee time – Saturday 5 July – crafty items needed
Put this date in your diaries and bring along family and friends. Our major fund raising even this year will be on Saturday 5 July 2014 in the Market Harborough Theatre Lounge.
In the meantime, if you have a crafty hobby and would like to while away these dark winter days and evenings making items to donate to sell, then get going now. Whilst we hope members will donate items, small amounts of expenses for materials can be reimbursed.
So whatever your hobby, get knitting, sewing, crocheting, card making or whatever your skill, now!

Members try out Tai Chi
Laraine Tucker, String of Pearls Tai Chi, gave members a detailed insight into the art of Tai Chi last night. Throughout the evening, Laraine expertly demonstrated several sequences of Tai Chi movements to music, amazing members with her gracefulness. Members also had the opportunity to practise this ancient art themselves, initially working on their stance, then into thinking about relaxation before practising some basic movements.
Laraine explained that Tai Chi not only keeps the body really supple, often being practised on a daily basis outdoors in China, but also gives it the chance to rebalance and help relieve problems with aches, pains and joints. She added that many of the movements are based on the way animals move. Check out her website for more details, plus the courses she offers (see link above).
Laraine also mentioned a colleague, Paul Maslowski, who offers Tai Chi classes in Market Harborough at the Methodist Church Hall, organised by the Workers’ Educational Association – call 01509 268636 for more details.
